L. J. Lee & T. J. Lilliman, founders of the

 Canadian Bushhawks Liaison Squadron,

near Geneseo, New York, 1992

Who are we…

We have been a mainstay of the Warbird Airshow scene in Canada and the northeastern US since 1991.

We offer airshow spectators a tightly disciplined display of Liaison flying in the Aeronca L-16A aircraft, from our signature preflight sequence to simultaneous propstop.  Our airshow routines include formation display, aircraft performance, and recreation of the liaison aircraft’s reconnaissance, rescue and attack co-ordination roles.

Our “Formation Flight Syllabus,” first published in 1994, is the first FAA and EAA-endorsed manual for formation flight training in high-wing, light liaison aircraft, and is now in use around the world.  It is also one of the official formation training manuals of the JLFC, EAA Warbirds’ FAA-approved Liaison and light trainer formation network.

THE CANADIAN CONNECTION:

A Canadian Artillery Sergeant, Charles Simpson, was on exchange with the U. S. Army in Korea when hostilities erupted there in 1950.  Charlie flew L-16s in combat for several months.

He was shot down in one late in the year, and was transported back home to recuperate.

Charlie now lives in Gravenhurst, Ontario.

He is an energetic volunteer each year at the Muskoka Airshow.

We are proud to call him our friend.
